Owen Stanley, Brad Fisher, Josh Fitzpatrick and Sam Heafield attend the U16 England trails, whilst young Tom Morgan attended the U14 trails. All lads played really well to which Owen and Brad were selected to go forward to the next stage. Congratulations for to all. |

At last nights Preston Sports Awards the U16 National league team picked up the award for 'Junior Team Performance of the Year'. The team coach Joel Augustine stated..."I was delighted for the players to win last night. I feel that the players fully deserved the award due to their hard work and commitment. The award has also been accepted on behalf of club officials, parents and supporters. The players are extremely grateful for everybody's contributions". |

Pride welcomes the services of
Coach ANDREA MARTELLA born in Rome, Italy. Andrea is 39 and works as a Doctor specialising in forensic psychiatry at the Calderstones Trust in Whalley. He's coached since 1985 in the main basketball association of region Sardinia (Italy), named ESPERIA CAGLIARI. He gained the qualification as ALLENATORE (Coach) in the 2nd level italian course for coach's that allows him to coach both Junior and Senior teams up to 3rd Italian male division. He has coached several junior sides; from under 13 to under 19, winning regional championships and participating in national Junior finals. He has experience, both inside and outside Esperia, as personal trainer for the development of technical skills in young players, to which he has continuously dedicating himself for 5 years. |

Art. 4.3 Uniforms
The provision that T-shirts may be worn by players under their game uniforms is not valid anymore. sleeveless compression vests and singlets are allowed providing they are not visable.
Art. 25.2.3 Player falling on the floor
It is legal when a player falls and slides on the floor while holding the ball.
once the player comes to rest the normal travel rules still apply
Art. 28.1.3 Ball goes into team's frontcourt
The ball goes to the teams' frontcourt when, during the dribble from backcourt to frontcourt, both feet of the dribbler and the ball are in contact with the frontcourt. so a dribbling player can partially step on or over the half court line and return to the back court without a violation, but if he picks up the ball he ceases to be a dribbling player and the normal backcourt rules apply.
Art. 30.1.2 Ball returned to the backcourt
It will not be a violation anymore if a player, who jumps from his frontcourt, establishes a new team control while still airborne and then lands in his team's backcourt.
meaning you can now steal a pass and land in your own backcourt without violation. this only applies to a jumping player, a player who slides into his own backcourt is still called for a violation.
Art. 31 Goaltending and interference
If a player reaches through the basket from below and touches the ball, it is an interference (and not a simple violation) with all the relevant rule consequences. so if an out of bounds pass is goaltended the inbound passer is awarded 3pts.
Art. 36.1.4 Unsportsmanlike foul
If a defensive player causes contact with an opponent from behind or laterally in an attempt to stop a fast break and there is no opponent between the offensive player and the opponents' basket, then the contact shall be judged to be unsportsmanlike. this rule is primarily for fouls in the open court. a foul from behind or laterally during the act of shooting i.e. a layup is not an instant Unsportsmanlike foul, it is judged on wheather the defensive players makes an attempt to play the ball with all the relevant rule consequences.
Art. 38.3.1 Technical foul
A technical foul can be called on a player for excessive swinging of elbows (without contact). note:- a rebounding player who pivots with his elbows out is not classed as swinging the elbow as it is a 'basketball action', this can still be called an offensive foul but would not be a Technical foul. |

Pride took a clean sweep of the Lancashire Basketball Association Play-offs as the U14, U16Dev & U18 teams win against Burnley. The U14 & U18 teams had convicting wins against their Lancashire rivals, but the U16 development side had a great 1 point victory having being 17-points down going into the last quarter. The U16 side crawled back the deficit and nudge 1-point ahead with only 6 sec left on the clock - what a game & a great weekend for the club. Owen Stanley & Mark Baker respectively picked up the U14 & U18 MVP awards. |
